Summer Job as a Traffic Analyst in Solna

Job Responsibilities

Our unit is responsible for developing and managing the national passenger traffic forecasting model Sampers. Sampers is used to produce forecasts for how travel in Sweden will develop over the next 20-30 years.

Currently, a project is underway aimed at improving the geographical resolution in Sampers, making the forecasts more useful at the local level. Concurrently, we are undertaking an initiative to update the input data used in the model, with a particular focus on updating public transport networks.

As a summer intern, you will primarily work on further developing and testing parts of Sampers. This work includes implementing and testing a refined area division in the model. The geographical division has remained unchanged for the past six years and now needs to be developed. This means you will process the model's zoning system, adapt input data to the new area division, and conduct test runs to analyze the results.

You will also work on updating and quality-assuring the regional public transport networks in Sampers. The current networks were developed in 2019 and need to be updated to better reflect the current situation. This work involves importing information about Sweden's bus lines from Samtrafiken's database and quality-assuring and testing the data by running the model and analyzing the results.

The job responsibilities require you to be analytical and enjoy working with data. It is also important that you can work systematically and in a structured manner. Additional tasks may arise as needed.
